SUV'S IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Everyone seems to be getting sports utility vehicles in my neighborhood. Why can’t they be satisfied with a nice, old-fashioned Lincoln Town Car? What is this sudden fascination with SUVs? I’ve seen them barreling down the Interstate like they’re at the Indy Motor Speedway. It’s as if they just don’t care. You know, there’s another new phenomenon lately around here too. It’s called indoor golf. Now, why would anybody want to play golf indoors? That’s ridiculous! Golf is a game that was meant to be played outside. They are hazards, for one thing. You need to have a pond, or a creek or lake, so that when the ball rolls down the slope into the water, points are added to your par! How in the world can you do that within four walls? The only time I can remember seeing this game played indoors was when there was this enclosed amusement park called Old Chicago, out in Romeoville. One of their attractions was a miniature golf course within the large building, which also contained a roller coaster and various other rides and arcades. This place only lasted a few years. I think it lost a good deal of business when Great America opened up in Gurnee a couple of years later.
