LOCAL RESTAURANT

My husband and I were planning to have a nice evening out but he decided he wanted to cancel. We were supposed to try out this one restaurant that's right near our home. It's frustrating because we always find some reason to cancel. Tonight's reason is that my husband has been worrying more than usual lately since the doctor confirmed the hair loss as androgenetic alopecia. He's actually on the computer in the other room looking up some articles about it. He said he just doesn't want to be around a lot of people. He feels embarrassed because it's more of an upscale restaurant and he said he just doesn't feel attractive enough right now to get all dressed up and, in his words, “pretend to look good.” I think he's overreacting a bit since the doctor said it's a common disorder, but I can sympathize too because I'll admit he used to have a really nice head of hair. So nice, in fact, that in his twenties there was a company who asked him if he was interested in being the spokesperson for their hair care product. They also asked if they could photograph his hair and actually use it on one of their products. We both agreed that it's just harder when you're praised for something and then all of a sudden that changes. It takes some getting used to. I hope he gets over the self-consciousness soon, though, because he's been promising me that elegant candlelight dinner at that place for awhile now!
